Tempur-Pedic Mattresses

Tempur-Pedic mattresses use a unique foam material called Tempur material. Originally developed by NASA and latered adapted to provide exceptional support, pressure point reduction and reduced motion transfer. Nothing else feels like a Tempur-Pedic mattress. They have developed 3 unique Tempur materials. The Contour material is firm and supportive and slightly slower at adjusting to the shape of the body for a firm yet supportive feel. The Cloud material is a soft yet provides support underneath for a slightly faster responding cloud like feel. The Flex material is the fastest to respond with a hybrid feel and just a little bounce. Tempur-Pedic Breeze mattresses are designed with 3 layers of active cooling material to create one of the coolest climate adjusted sleeping surfaces. Tempur-Pedic mattresses are highly recommended by Tempur-Pedic owners, and are proven to last longer than many other types of mattresses.

Hybrid Mattresses

The term hybrid mattress comes from a combination of technologies. Usually foam and innerspring. Most hybrid mattresses are a combination of memory foam and innerspring coils. Some are made from latex and springs. All foam mattresses generally have less bounce and more of a dense feel, while hybrid mattresses offer some of the pressure relieving benefits of the foam while still providing the quick responsiveness of innerspring coils. Most hybrid models are non quilted, which means there is only a thin layer of material between the sleeper and the foam. This usually equates to a less fluffy feel that people are used to in innerspring mattresses. Hybrid mattresses are great for people who like the feel of foam yet don't prefer an all foam feel.

Innerspring Mattresses

Innerspring mattresses offer a very traditional quick responding support. When you change positions on an innerspring mattress you will immediately feel the mattress adjust to the shape of your body. Spring mattresses come in a variety of firmness options ranging in firmness from firmest to softest:  Extra Firm, Firm, Luxury Firm, Firm Pillow Top, Plush Pillow Top, Plush and Ultra Plush. The coil gauge and the comfort layers on top determine the overall feel and support. Most of the firmer mattresses will have a thicker spring coil gauge and most of the softer mattresses will have a slightly thinner coil gauge and a softer feel.

Memory Foam Mattresses

There are many types of memory foam mattresses.  The visco-elastic foam is called memory foam because it remembers its original shape. Most memory foam mattresses are layered beginning with a base foam, support foam, and comfort layers. The density and firmness of each foam type used will determine the overall feel and support of the foam. Memory foam mattresses are better at reducing motion transfer compared to innerspring mattresses, however the softer models can be more difficult to move around on. Depending on the density of the foam and the way it is layered, the durability and support varies tremendously by brand and model.

Latex Mattresses

Latex mattresses are made from the rubber tree (havea brasiliensis) and use all natural latex foam rubber. Typically latex mattresses last 2-3 times longer than most innerspring and foam mattresses. Hypoallergenic, naturally antibacterial and dust mite resistant, and eco friendly. Made from renewable resources.
